Baba was like the widower who remarries but can't let go...

Hosseini's use of a simile here shows a comparison between Baba's relationship to Afghanistan and his dead wife. It is difficult for Baba to forget about the luxuries and wealth he had back in Kabul as well as the loss of his wife. When Hosseini says Baba was like "the widower who remarries" one can infer that he is also meaning that Baba is a person that moves from his mother country but still does not forget his roots and mother country. This shows how inscribed Afghanistan culture and tradition is for him.

  1. this is a very interesting simile to use to analyze because that is exactly how Baba feels about Afghanistan. It says a lot about Afghanistan culture and how it is important for them to remember it .
